B: Fried rice with egg or sometimes fried noodles with egg.

B: You're welcome. You should take a shower now. You haven't taken a shower since last night, right?

A: Yes I'm going to. Is there a clean towel in the bathroom?

A: That's very nice of them. How long are you staying there for?

B: About six months.

A: I see, well I think you would really like it there.

B: I think so, even though it's so much colder than here

A: I'm sure you can manage that.

B: I hope so.

A: What is the time now?

B: It is seven o'clock.

A: I think your watch is too fast. Mine says quarter to seven.

B: I don't think so. It's seven o'clock sharp.

It's ten minutes to ten.

It's seven past seven.

It's half to six.

It's half past five.

It's quarter past nine.

It's a quarter to twelve.

A: How is the weather today in Jakarta?

B: It's bad today. It's been raining and windy since this morning. How's the weather in Medan?

A: Well yesterday was horrible, there was thunder and lightning. But surprisingly it is very bright and sunny today.

A: It's raining.

It's cold.

It's snowing.

It's cloudy.

It's very hot.

It's blowing.

It's cool today.

It's a nice day.

It's bright.

It's sunny.

It's stormy.

It's thundering.

It's lightning.

A: Why haven't you gone to Bali yet?

B: I have to postpone it for two days.

A: Why? What's wrong?

B: Nothing is wrong. I just would like to stay a few more days here in Jakarta.

A: Oh I see. What about your accommodation in Bali? Have you cancel the bookings yet?

B: I didn't cancel it. I just postponed it for two days.

A: Does it cost you to do that?

B: No, but if you cancel it, then they will charge you cancellation fees.

A: Oh I see. So what's your plan for these two days?

B: I'm meeting an old friend tomorrow, and the next day I'm spending the day with my mother.

A: Nice plan. Say hi to your mother for me please.

B: I will.

A: Can you do me a favor?

B: Yes, why not?

A: Could you pass me that hammer, please.

B: Which hammer, this one?

A: No, not that one, the long one.

B: Here you go. What else do you need?

A: Pass me the nails.

B: Here they are. What are you making anyway?

A: I'm making a bird cage. By the way, what color do you think would look nice?

B: I think yellow with a little bit of green would look nice.

A: You think so?

B: Yeah, trust me. I've seen one before and it looks nice.

A: All right. Pass me that yellow paint.

B: Here you go let me help you paint it, too.

A: How old are you?

B: I have been there four times.

A: When was the last time you went there?

B: Last year.

A: Did you go with your family?

B: No, I went with my close friends.

A: How do you like Bali?

B: It is wonderful!

A: Did you try scuba-diving there?

B: I didn't, but I've tried it before when I was in Lombok.

A: So you have been to Lombok too.

B: Yes, I've been there more often than I've been to Bali. I have relatives in Lombok.

A: Is that so?

B: Yeah, I should take you there sometimes. It's really nice there.

A: How old are you?

B: I am thirty years old, and you?

A: Have a guess on how old I am.

B: You are about twenty-eight years old.

A: You are wrong, I will be thirty-five years old on April the thirteenth.

B: You look younger than your age. So, is Andi your younger brother?

A: Yes, he's turning thirty this year

B: Is that so?

A: How do you get to your office?

B: I normally take taxi.

A: How long does it take you there?

B: About an hour.

A: Is your office far from the international airport?

A: And what about your sister?

B: She is not very well, she has a stomachache since yesterday.

A: Has she seen the doctor?

B: No, she hasn't.

A: Why? You should take her.

B: I have told her that, but she refuses to. I'm going to ask her again when I see her.

A: Well here's my doctor's name card. He's really good. You should take her there.

B: Thank you.

A: Hi Andy, what are you up to?

B: Nothing, just relaxing, What's up?

A: What is your friend's name last night?

B: Which one?

A: The one that was wearing a red dress at Maria's party last night.

B: Oh! Her name is Sarah. She's one of my college friends.

A: Oh I see, I met her this morning at the bus stop. She was with a friend of mine from high school. I think you would know him too.

B: Really. What's his name?

A: Andrew Philips.

B: Oh, what a small world. How is he?

A: Indeed it is. He's very well. He said hi.

B: Send my regards if you meet him again.

A: I will.

A: Are you busy today?

B: Yes, I have plenty of office work to do.

A: What about tomorrow?

B: I think tomorrow is also a full day.

A: Why is that? What do you need to do.

B: I have appointments with a few clients tomorrow morning. Then I need to sort out my flight tickets at lunch time. I'm leaving for Surabaya for a meeting on Thursday.

A: And what's after that?

B: After that I'm free. I can go with you somewhere, if you like.

A: Really? That would be great. I need a refreshment from work.

B: Same here. We could go to a nice restaurant and then watch a movie at the cinema.

A: I heard Bridge Wars is already playing in cinemas.

B: We definitely have to watch that. Well then, see you tomorrow.

A: How are you going on? Is all running well?

B: Yes, all is running well.

A: Was the English examination too difficult for you?

B: No, It was very easy for me. How about you?

A: It was bad. I think I won't pass it.

B: How come? Didn't you prepare? How many questions couldn't you answer?

A: I didn't have enough time to study last night. I could only answer forty percent of the questions.

B: That's too bad, but don't worry, this is only a mid-test. It doesn't count towards your end report. Make sure you prepare well and get enough rest for the final examination.

A: I definitely will.

A: Hello Debi, long time no see

B: Hi Lana, yes it's been a while I know

A: How have you been?

B: I've been very well, thank you. And your self?

A: Good as always. Where are you going?

B: I'm going shopping with my friend, do you want to come with us?

A: Actually, I have nothing to do for now, but I promised my sister to take her to the dentist tonight. What time will we be back?

B: Why don't you ask her to join us as well? There you can go straight to the dentist from the mall

A: That's sounds convenient. How do we go there?

B: We're taking the five to ten bus

A: All right, I'll get my sister now. See you at the bus stop

B: Ok, see you soon.

A: Good day. I'd like to see Mr. Martin, please

B: Do you have an appointment?

A: No, I don't, but if he is here I'd like to talk with him

B: Is it urgent?

A: Yes, it is very urgent

B: Can I know your name, Sir?

A: Yes, it's Joe Smith

B: Wait a minute, please

B: Well, he said that you can see him, he is in room number five on the fourth floor

A: Thank you. How do I get there?

B: You can take the lift over here, Sir! But first, I need to see your ID card, for safety reasons

A: No problem, here you go

B: Thank you, Sir. Here's your visitor's card. Please bring it with you upstairs.

B: Once you're finished please bring it here and we'll give back your ID card

A: Sure, thank you.

A: How come you didn't answer my call yesterday?

B: I'm very sorry. I've been busy this week

A: What have you been doing?

B: I have been helping my sister move houses

A: That must be tiring, I don't like moving houses

B: Same here

A: So, how are your sister and her family?

B: They're good. You should come by sometimes to their new house. It's just a few blocks from your house.

A: That's great. I will for sure, if your sister needs a hand just call me

B: Ok, I will tell her that.

A: How was your trip to Hong Kong last week?

B: It was awesome. I had so much fun

A: Did you take a lot of picture?

B: Yes, just a minute. I'll show you photos that I took.

A: Great. How long did you stay there for?

B: Just a couple of weeks. Here are the photos.

A: Oh, wait! Who is this?

B: Have a guess!

A: It's you, isn't it?

B: No. That is my brother

A: Is your brother in Hong Kong?

B: Yes, he is

A: How long has he been there?

B: If I am not mistaken, more than two years now

A: I see. By the way, you took a lot of nice picture

B: Thank you. I still think I didn't take enough

A: I think it's more than enough; you already have three albums full of photos in Hong Kong

B: Haha, well it was my first time there.

A: Do you know who that woman over there is?

B: I don't know, but she looks familiar

A: I reckon. What about that guy beside her? He also looks familiar

B: Oh I know him, he's my brother's friend. You know him too.

A: Oh, that's right! If I am not mistaken his name is Aldo, right?

B: Now I know why that woman looks familiar, she's one of the famous reporters on TV

A: I remembered Aldo once told my brother, his sister works as a reporter

B: Maybe he is Aldo's sister

A: I reckon. Let's go and say hi to them.

A: Hi, Lana

B: Hello, Sarah. Nice seeing you here. What are you doing here?

A: I'm meeting up with a friend. What about you?

B: I just finished work and wanted to come here for dinner. So, when is your friend coming?

A: Soon hopefully. Oh, there she is. Do you still know her?

B: No I don't. Who is she?

A: She used to be a member of our organization

B: Oh, really? I totally forgot

A: Fair enough, she joined us for just a few month anyway

B: That explain it. Anyways, I better get going. I'm starting to feel a little bit hungry now.

A: Have a nice dinner. We should catch up next time

B:Definitely. Have a good evening.

A: Oh, I nearly forgot, here's my new number. Just call me when you are free to meet up

B: Certainly.

A: What time do you get up in the morning, David?

B: I get up at six o'clock every morning

A: Does your wife get up at the sametime?

B: No she doesn't, she gets up earlier than me. She needs to prepare breakfast and lunch box for the kids

A: What do you do after you get up?

B: I normally tidy up the bed, fold the blankets and open up the curtains and windows. After everything is neat and tidy, I then wake the kids up to get ready for school

A: So, when do get yourself ready for work?

B: Well, when everything is done and tidy. I then quickly have a bath, and get dressed and have breakfast.

A: Why do you look so tired today?

B: I didn't get enough sleep last night

A: What time did you wake up this morning?

B: I woke up around six o'clock this morning

A: That explains it. Why so early?

B: It's not early, I normally wake up around five o'clock. But since last night I went to bed quite late, so I couldn't wake up at five this morning.

A: Why do you need to wake up at five?

B: I have to do a great deal of housework such as cleaning the house, watering flowers, preparing food for breakfast and feeding the dogs as well

A: Do you always do this every morning?

B: Yes, every morning

A: And what about in the evenings?

B: Well, after coming back from work I usually get some rest and watch television

A: I can imagine how tired you would be. So, who prepares the dinner then?

B: My brother usually prepares the dinner for us. He's good at cooking.

A: Interesting to know. I should try his cooking sometimes.

B: He'll be happy to cook for you. I will arrange time for you to have dinner with us sometimes soon

A: That would be so nice of you. I look forward to that

B: Me too.

A: Are you sick? you look so pale

B: Yes, I am. I've been feeling unwell since three days ago

A: Have you gone to the doctor yet?

B: No, I haven't, I though that I should just get some rest first before going to the doctor

A: Have you taken any medicine?

B: I took aspirin last night and this morning

A: Are you feeling any better after taking the medicine

B: No, I still feel sick

A: Then you should go to the doctor. Otherwise, it will get worse

B: I agree. Could you give me a ride to the hospital?

A: Sure, I can. Please wait a minute. I'll get my car.

A: Hi there, I would like to see the general practitioner please

B: Have you made an appointment yet, Sir?

A: No, I haven't.

B: Have you been here before?

A: Yes, I have. Here is my member card

B: Thank you, Sir. Please wait a minute while I process your data

A: Allright

A: Good afternoon, Mr. Dito. What can I do for you? What is your complaint?

B: I have been feeling very sick lately. My head feels like it's spinning. Every time I eat I feel like throwing up. I really don't feel well

A: How long have you felt like this?

B: Almost a week now

A: Ok, please lie down over there. The nurse will take your blood tension

B: Allright

A: I'm going to press your stomach, tell me when it hurts. Does it hurt here?

B: No, not really

A: What about here?

B: Ouch, it's very painful

A: And here?

B: Yes it's the same

A: All right. You can get up now. I'm going to send you to the laboratory to do some blood tests. Is that fine with you?

B: It isn't anything serious, is it?

A: Don't worry Mr. Dito. I just want to be certain with what is causing you pain in the stomach. Nothing serious, don't worry. The nurse will take you there.

B: Allright then, thank you, doctor.

A: Do you have any plans for tomorrow?

B: I'm thinking to go swimming tomorrow. Do you want to come with me?

A: That's actually a good idea. I think I need to do some exercise too. Where shall we meet? and what time?

B: Great. Whenever, it's up to you

A: OK. we'll meet at the bus stop near our school at nine o'clock tomorrow morning

B: Allright. Don't forget to bring your goggles.

A: Where is your old motorcycle?

B: I have already sold it

A: When did you sell it?

B: I sold it this morning

A: What a pity! why?

B: I'm planing to buy a car

A: How much did you sell it for?

B: Fifteen million Rupiahs. I suppose that amount plus my savings will be enough to buy me a used car

A: What kind of car are you looking for?

B: I still don't know yet

A: Well whenever you want to go and look for a used car please let me know. I want to come with you

B: Sure. I'm thinking to go next week

B: Have you got all the ingredients?

A: I guess so. Here we have flour, sugar, butter, and canned fruits

B: I'll mix the flour, sugar, and butter together

A: OK, I'll open the canned fruit and separate the fruit from the juice

B: Have you prepared the oven yet? Turn the heat to two hundred and fifty degrees celsius.

A: OK, I'll do that now. I've finished with the canned fruit.

B: All right, after that could you place all the canned fruits on the cake pan?

A: Where's the cake pan?

B: It's in the cupboard. After you're done with that, pass it to me so I'll pour the mixing on top of the fruits

A: Done, here you go

B: All right, now we are ready to bake it.

B: I see. So how long did you work as a salesman?

A: I worked at my first job as salesman for a year. Then I worked in another company as a salesman, too, for two years. So therefore. It's been three years now.

B: Why are you applying at this company?

A: I've known this company for quite a long time; It's been my goal to work for this company

B: I see. Well I hope you get a call for the job, you seem very eager

A: I hope so, too. Thank you for your kind help

B: No worries. Good luck.

A: Good afternoon

B: Good afternoon. Come in, please

A: Thank you. Is Mrs. Sita available to see today?

B: I'm sorry. She is in a meeting at the moment

A: Is that so? I really would like to talk to her about something important

B: I'm sorry but she cannot be disturbed. If you want I can arrange for you an appointment with her

A: Sure. Can it be today?

B: No sorry, but I can put you in her tomorrow's schedule. Would you like me to do that?

A: Yes please at nine in the morning. Thank you

B: Sure. See you tomorrow morning.

A: Hello good afternoon. Melly speaking. How may I help you?

B: Yes, Hello. Is this Kesaint Blanc Publishers?

A: That is correct. May I help you, Ma'am?

B: I'm Lana from English Institute Jakarta, I would like to speak to the marketing manager in charge, please?

A: Just a moment please, I'll see if she's in

B: Thank you

A: I'm sorry, but she has just left the Building

B: What time will she be back at the office?

A: I'm not quite sure, Ma'am. Would you like to leave a message?

B: No that's fine. What time does your office close?

A: We close at seven Ma'am

B: All right then, I'll ring you back before seven

A: Certainly. Thank you for calling Kesaint Blanc Publishing. Good afternoon.

A: Lets go to the ATM machine first, I have to withdraw some money

B: Why do you need to withdraw some money?

A: Hang on. Let me check how much money I have in my wallet. Ah, it is enough to buy a bike.

B: Do you intend to buy one?

A: Yes, I'm buying it for my sister

B: New one or second-hand one?

A: New one

B: Have you decided on the brand?

A: Not yet, I don't know which brand is good

B: I can help you with that. Let's go to the bike shop

A: This one is a good brand. I have one at home, the quality is very good

B: Yes I have it since three years ago, I have been riding it a lot too and the bike is still in good condition

A: Well, I guess I will get this brand then.

A: Can you drive a car?

B: Yes, I can. What about you?

A: I cannot, but I'm keen to learn sometime. So, how long have you been driving?

B: I've been driving a car since high school. So, it's more than five years now.

A: Five years! Have you driven from Jakarta to Bandung?

B: Yes. I even have driven from Jakarta to Bali. It took me four days with a few stops of course

A: How do you like driving long hours?

B: I actually enjoy it very much

A: I need to learn how to drive. Maybe you can teach me sometimes.

B: I will be happy to

A: Do you drive automatic or manual

B: I can drive both

A: Nice. So, how's next week for my first driving lesson?

B: Sure, can do.

A: You've made it. Thank you so much for coming. When did you receive my wedding invitation?

B: I received to two days ago

A: Right on time. You didn't tell me you've moved cities. I was confused about where to send my wedding invitation

B: Yeah, sorry I didn't have time to tell everyone yet. I was busy sorting out the new school for the kids, but everything is good now. By the way congratulations, I'm so happy for you

A: Thank you. Where are your parents? Are they coming as well?

B: Yes, they should be here in a few minutes. There. They are coming

A: Well enjoy the party. Help you self with the food

B: Thank you.

A: Did you know that Sarah is throwing a birthday party this Saturday?

B: Yes, I know. I'm planning to go there. Are you going?

A: I don't think so

B: Why not?

A: I'm going to Joe's party. It's on the same date, didn't you know?

B: No, I know nothing about Joe's party. I'm not invited

A: That's odd. Aren't you one of his close friends?

B: Yes I am and it is odd. Are we talking about the same Joe here?

A: I don't know, I forgot his last name, but this Joe does chemistry

B: Well, the Joe whom I know does arts. So, I guess we're talking about different Joe here.

A: There, that's Joe that I'm talking about

B: Oh that Joe. I know him, but we're not that close

A: Oh what a pity. I was hoping we could go together to the party

B: That's fine, I'm going to Sarah's party anyway this Saturday

A: Oh yeah, that's right. Tell her I'm sorry I cannot be at her party

B: Sure will do.

A: My wife and I would like to rent a house

B: What kind of house do you want?

A: A fully furnished one

B: How many bedrooms would you like to have?

A: Two bedrooms with one bathroom would be enough

B: How long are you planning to rent the house?

A: We just need a place to stay for six months while we are renovating our old house

B: I'm sorry, but the minimum period for renting a house is one year. I can suggest you to rent an apartment

A: We have never lived in an apartment before

B: Well, I can tell you that the rent is cheaper than a house, and there are free facilities you can use, such as the gym and swimming pool

A: That sounds very nice

B: Plus you don't have to worry about the security; they have guards that look after the building day and night

A: That's even better

B: Well, here are some brochures of two-bedroom apartments for you to take home

A: Allright, thank you. My wife and I need sometime to think about it first. And we'll get back to you

B: No problem. Here's my card, you can call me on that number.

A: So who's doing the presentation today?

B: Me and Silva

A: Are you prepared?

B: Yes, I've got everything that I need with me: my laptop and the projector, but the problem is Silva has not arrived yet. When's the meeting start?

A: Don't worry, the meeting won't start until an hour later

B: Why is that? Is Mr. Dito not yet here?

A: Yes, According to his secretary he won't be here until ten o'clock, and that is an hour from now

B: What a relief. I don't know what's holding Silva up

A: Traffic jam, I suppose

B: I'm going to give her a ring.

A: How are you getting along with your piano?

B: It is going very well

A: What other instruments do you play beside it?

B: Well, I can play guitar too

A: Really? which one do you like playing the most

B: Piano I guess

A: I see. You are so talented. I envy you. I find it quite hard to learn the piano

B: No, it's not that hard. As long as you always practice. I'm sure you can be good, too.

A: Do you practice everyday?

B: Yes almost two hours everyday

A: No wonder you're good

B: I've learned that you have to practice a lot if you want to be good at any kind of instruments

A: You are so right. I will try to practice everyday from now on

B: Good on you.

A: So, how was the movie last night?

B: It's really good. It is based on a novel. I even bought the novel after the movie

A: Who is it written by?

B: I don't know. Hold on, let me just get the novel first

A: Allright

B: It is written by Surya Era

A: Surya Era? I've never heard his name before; he must be a new writer

B: I guess so. He is still young, about twenty five years old

A: Is that so? What a brilliant guy. By the way, do you mind if I borrow the novel?

B: Not at all. Here you go

A: Thank you. I'll return it back after I finished reading

B: No problem, anytime

A: Have you finished reading the novel you bought last week?

B: I haven't, I still have a lot of pages to go. Why do you ask?

A: Nothing. I bought the second series of the novel yesterday. You are most welcome to borrow if you want

B: Thanks. Once I finish this novel I will definitely borrow it.

A: Here are the menu, Miss

B: Thank you

A: May I take your order now?

B: I would like to have barbecue chicken with rice noodles

A: Oh I'm sorry Miss, but we've sold out

B: How about fried chicken and rice?

A: That we still have, coming right away. What do you want for drinks, Miss?

B: I'll have orange juice

A: Is that all?

B: Yes that's all for now. Thank you.

A: Where is the place?

B: Well, it says here at Jalan Kenanga 3. It doesn't say what number

A: What street are we at now?

B: We already on Kenanga 3, so slow down

A: I couldn't see any sign saying 'Pet Shop'

B: I remember the place is somewhere on the corner

A: There's a corner right there. Is that the place?

B: I am not sure. Just pull aside. Let me ask that man.

A: Excuse me, do you know where Doggie Pet Shop on this street is?

B: Oh. They've already moved

A: Do you know where to?

B: Sorry, I don't know

A: It's ok. Thank you

B: I guess we have to find another pet shop.

A: I really like this Tv. Is this the newest model?

B: No, it isn't. That's our last month's model. This one here is our very newest model. It just arrived two days ago

A: Oh really? This is very nice. What brand is it?

B: It's Sonic, Sir

A: Do you have KG?

B: Yes, we do. KG also produced something similar to this type, but we've sold out. We have other newest models if you like

A: I would prefer this model thank you. Do you know where else can I buy this particular type?

B: I think the shop to us has it, too, but they do not offer a one year guarantee like we do.

A: Do you have the newest model for KG's TV?

B: Yes, we do. It's over here, Sir

A: How much does it cost?

B: It costs fifteen million Rupiahs Sir

A: Does it come with guarantee?

B: Yes, we have a store guarantee for two months

A: Just two months?

B: Yes, Sir

A: I see. What about sonic? How much does it cost?

B: Sonic has something similar to this model but cheaper. It's about ten million Rupiahs, Sir. But sorry we've sold out

A: Sold out?

B: Yes, Sir, I'm afraid so.

A: Hi Jane. What are you up to?

B: I just came back from groceries shopping. What's up?

A: I have a favor to ask

B: What is it?

A: I need to pick up my sister at the airport tomorrow, so I was just wondering if I could borrow your car.

B: What time do you need the car tomorrow?

A: She's arriving at ten in the morning. It will take me almost an hour to get to the airport from here. So, I would probably need the car around nine. If that's okay?

B: Sure, that's no problem, but I need the car back after lunch

A: Sure can. Thank you so much

B: No worries.

A: Good afternoon. Welcome to Blancis Fashion

B: Thank you

A: May I help you. Ma'am?

B: No, Thank you. I'm just looking around

A: If you need a help, feel free to ask

B: Sure, Thanks

(a moment later...)

A: Excuse me, do you have aa size small in this?

B: Let me have a look

A: Oh, here you are

B: Can I try this on?

A: Sure ma'am, the fitting room is over there

(the woman tries the clothes in the fitting room...)

A: How did you go Ma'am?

B: I will take it

A: All right you could go straight to cashier number eight over there

B: Thank you.

A: Can I see your ticket, Sir?

B: Here you go

A: You are on seat 86 and 87

A: Let me take you to your seat, Sir

B: Thank you. How many minutes do I have before the performance starts?

A: You still have fifteen more minutes, Sir. Can I help you with anything?

B: I need to go to the restroom. If you could show me where it is, that would be really helpful

A: Sure Sir, if you exit this door, the restroom will be on your left

B: Thank you

A: Pleasure, Sir.

A: Do you smoke?

B: Yes, I do

A: Can I have a cigarette please?

B: Sure here you are. Here's the lighter, too

A: Thanks. So tell me, how much do you spend on cigarettes every week?

B: I'm trying to cut down as much as possible. I normally spend around seventy thousand Rupiahs per week. What about you?

A: I have a bad habit. I can spend twice as much as you

B: That's actually wasting money you know. We have to start living a healthy life with no smoke at all

A: I totally agree, but it's hard

B: Well nothing is hard, if we really want to.

A: Fancy meeting you here

B: I know. What are you up to?

A: I'm looking for a coffee shop. I feel like a cappuccino

B: There's one right there, next to the convenience store

A: Oh that's right

B: Do you mind if I join you? I think I need a coffee, too

A: Not at all. I'll be happy if you join me. We can have a chat there. Shall we go?

B: Let's go.

A: Excuse me. Do you know where the nearest bank around here is?

B: Yes

A: Is it still open?

B: Yes, up until twelve o'clock today

A: How can I get there?

B: You can take the city bus number forty seven

A: Thank you very much.

A: You look so busy, what are you doing?

B: I am writing a letter

A: Who are you writing it to?

B: To my sister

A: Why do you need to write her a letter, where does she lives?

B: She lives in Auckland. And it's her birthday next week, so I'm sending her a birthday card

A: I see. Why don't you just send her an email? It's faster than mail and it costs nothing

B: It's more personal this way and plus I'm sending her a little gift, too

A: You're so nice. She will be very happy to receive it.

A: Hi, I'm David

B: Have we met before?

A: I don't think so; I am a newcomer in this town

B: Is that so? Where are you from?

A: I am from Jakarta

B: You're from a big city. How long have you been in this town?

A: It's been a week now

B: How do you like this town so far?

A: It is so different from Jakarta, but I really like the people here, they are so friendly and very helpful

B: I see. Well I hope you enjoy living here

A: Thank you. By the way I'm actually looking for a post office. Do you know where it is?

B: Yes, It's just a few blocks from here. But I'm afraid the post office is closed now. They normally open until two o'clock

A: What time is it now?

B: It's half past two

A: Ok. Never mind, at least I know where the post office is now

B: Yes it's not far from here.

C: This is our new neighbor, Andrew

B: Hello there, nice to meet you

A: Hi. Nice to meet you, too

B: So, where do you live Andrew? I live there, at the corner of that park

A: My house is also right next to the park, in front of the tennis court

B: Nice. Our houses are very close. Do you play tennis?

A: Yes, I do. That's one of the reason I choose this house, because it's near the tennis court.

B: Excellent. We have a game every Thursday night. You're most welcome to join us.

A: I would love to. What time does it start?.

A: Are you still single?

B: No, I am married

A: How long have you been married for?

B: More than six years now

A: Do you have children?

B: Yes, I have two children. One is a boy and one is a girl

A: Are you planning to have more?

B: I guess not. What about you, are you married yourself?

A: No, I'm not married, but I just got engaged

B: Congratulations. You must be very happy

A: Yes, of course

B: When did he propose to you?

A: Two weeks ago

B: So when do you plan to get married?

A: When the time is right, maybe next year

B: I agree. I am happy for you.

A: What are your plans for the next holiday?

B: I've decided to go to Bali

A: Interesting. Who are you going with?

B: Just myself. Do you want to come along?

A: Sure why not? I have nothing planned for this holiday anyway

B: It will be so much fun

A: How long should we stay there for? I only have two weeks of holiday

B: I think a week would be more than enough

A: Sure. Have you bought your flight ticket yet?

B: I'm going to buy it soon. Don't worry, I can arrange this trip for us

A: Ok. Don't forget to keep on updating me

B: Sure thing.

A: I heard you are going to open a clothes shop

B: Where do you hear it from?

A: From your mother

B: Yes that's right. A few friends and I have just opened a new boutique. Soon we'll be having a small grand opening

A: Where is it located?

B: Near Plaza Cenaya

A: Good location. I'm sure it will be successful. Where do you get the clothes from?

B: Some are from Bangkok and some we designed it ourselves

A: Nice. So you mush have been to Bangkok quite often then?

B: Yes more than five times now

A: Well, good luck on your grand opening

B: Thank you.

A: What are you doing here? Are you waiting for someone?

B: No, I'm just sitting here doing nothing. What's the matter?

A: Nothing. Shall we go for a walk?

B: That is a good idea. Let me get my sandals first

A: Sure. Should we ask if Donna wants to join us for a walk?

B: I doubt she would

A: Why?

B: She's busy doing her final project for her work

A: Are you sure?

B: Yes, I am. She told me yesterday after work that she will be busy today

A: All right, maybe next time we'll ask her. I wouldn't want people to disturb me when I'm busy, too.

A: Hello, this is Lana speaking, could you please tell the driver my flight has been delayed?

B: Certainly, Ma'am

A: So the new time now is eleven o'clock instead of ten

B: Which airplane are you with, Ma'am

A: I'm with Jakarta Airways

B: All right, I'll make sure the driver will be there when you arrive

A: How long does it take from the office to airport?

B: It takes about two hours

A: All right then, we are boarding now

B: Certainly, Ma'am. Have a pleasant flight .

A: When are you going to the bookstore?

B: Soon. Why?

A: If you go there. Could you buy me a book?

B: Sure, but you have to tell me the title of the book

A: The title is "Speed up Your English"

B: Alright

A: Here's fifthy thousand, the book costs forty six thousand Rupiahs. You can keep the change.

B: Thanks. But I won't be back until seven o'clock tonight

A: It's fine. Where else are you going?

B: I'm going to the supermarket with Denise. She needs to buy shampoo and soap

A: How convenient. Could you also buy me shampoo? Mine is running out soon.

B: Why can't you just come with me?

A: I want to, but there's no one to look after the house

B: Where's Bella?

A: She went to her friend's house. So, it's only me and you here

B: All right then. What else do you need?

A: That's all I suppose. Here's another twenty thousand for the shampoo

B: I'm keeping the change, ok?.

A: Two tickets to Yogyakarta, please

B: What tickets do you want, first class or economy?

A: First class please. What time will the evening train leave?

B: Seven thirty

A: On which platform?

B: Platform eight

A: All right. So how much is everything?

B: It's three hundred thousand Rupiahs, Sir

A: Here you are

B: Here are your tickets, Sir. The train leaves at seven thirty. Have a pleasant ride

A: Thank you.

A: Excuse me. Can you tell me the way to the bus station, please?

B: Sure. Are you going there by the bus or by foot?

A: By foot

B: Well, you go straight on this road. At the first intersection you find, you turn right.

A: And then?

B: You then turn to the left

A: Alright

B: Once you turn left there should be a sign to lead you to the bus station

A: Thank you for your help

B: You're welcome.

A: Excuse me, Miss. The fare, please

B: How much is the fare?

A: Long or short distance is the same, three thousand Rupiahs

B: Here you are. Where do I get off if I want to go to Kelapa Gading?

A: You should get off at the third bus stop. I will remind you then

B: By the way, Miss, have you got any small change?

A: How much will you change?

B: Ten thousands Rupiahs

A: Let me see. Oh, I have. Here is the change

B: Where are we now?

A: We are still at the second bus stop

(a minute later...)

B: Is it still far?

A: We are here already, this is the third bus stop, you should get off here

B: Allright, thank you.

A: Where are we now?

B: We'll be arriving in Yogyakarta soon

(A few moments later...)

A: Are we there yet?

B: Yes, we've finally arrived in Yogyakarta

A: Should we look around for a hotel now or later?

B: Later. I think we should eat first. I'm starving

A: Yes, me too. What should we eat?

B: Why don't we try Gudeg, Yogya's famous food?

A: I have never tried it before

B: Well since we're in Yogyakarta we might as well try it

A: Sure, why not?

B: Great. Let's find a restaurant near here.

A: Are you busy now?

B: No, not really. What's the matter?

A: Will you do me a favor?

B: Why not? What do you want me to do?

A: Can you accompany me to the library?

B: Sure. Do you need to borrow books?

A: Yes, I need to borrow some history books

B: What is it for?

A: I need it for my school assignment. I'm writing an essay about French history

B: I see. Well, let's go.

A: Green's concert is next Friday

B: Are you going to watch it?

A: For sure. I've been waiting for it since ages

B: Yeah, I believe it will be one of the best concerts of the year

A: Do you want to come with me? I have a spare ticket

B: Are you serious? I thought the tickets already sold out since a month ago

A: That's right. I bought mine two months ago. I was going to go with my little sister, but too bad she has school camp on the day of the concert

B: What a pity! Are you sure, she wouldn't mind me using her ticket?

A: Not at all. She's the one who told me to ask you

B: Your sister is so nice. Yes, It's my pleasure to go with you to the concert.

A: Excuse me, I would like to open an account at this bank

B: Sure. Can I have your ID please?

A: Yes, Mr. Adam Bar

B: Allright. Please write the name and address of your reference down here

A: No problem

B: While you're doing that, I'm going to photocopy your ID for our database. It won't be a minute, Sir

A: Allright

B: Here's your ID back. Have you finished filling in the form?

A: Yes I have

B: Very good. How much money do you want to put in, Sir?

A: Just three million Rupiahs first. Here you are

B: Thank you. Let me count it again and process that for you

(a moment later...)

A: All done, Sir. Here's your new saving book, Sir.

B: Thank you very much

A: Here's my name card, I'm Susi. If you need any help regarding your account, please let me know

B: I will. Thank you for your help, Susi

A: You are most welcome, Sir.

A: Let's go into this shoe shop, Lana

B: Do you need to buy some shoes?

A: Yes, I want to buy some high-heeled shoes

B: What do you need it for?

A: It's for my cousin's birthday party next Saturday

B: What sort of color are you looking for?

A: Well, I'm planning to wear a black dress so I need some dark-colored shoes

B: This one seems nice

A: It's too high, I would have a problem walking if I wore those shoes.

B: What about this one, it's not that high and not too flat too?

A: I like it, the color also matches; let me try it on first.

B:Is it the right size?

A: Yes, size seven is my size. It's comfortable too. I'm buying this

B: Let's go to the counter then.

A: Good day. Do you have a belt like this in the same size and color?

B: Let me see the brand

moments later...

A: I'm sorry, we haven't any

B: But last week my father bought it here

A: I'm sorry, it must have sold out, Sir. How about another brand with similar style?

B: All right, show me

A: Here you are, Sir. Just try it on

B: Does it come in different colors? I don't quite like this color

A: It comes in three different colors: black, dark brown, and this one, light brown

B: Can I see the black one?

A: Sure let me get it for you, Sir

B: All right

A: I'm sorry Sir, but we've run out of the black color. There's only dark brown and light brown and light brown left in this size

B: Oh, well then never mind. Thank you for your help

A: My pleasure, Sir.

A: I am ready. Let's go to the zoo

B: Should I drive or you drive?

A: It's up to you, I don't mind either way

B: Let me drive

A: I'm excited to see the new African lions that have just arrived

B: Yeah, that would be Interesting to see. What else would you like to see?

A: The lizards, the snakes, and the kangaroos. I love all kinds of animals

B: Yes me too

an hour later...

A: We are here

B: Nice. Let's hurry and buy the tickets

A: Hold on, let me find a car park first

B: There's one empty right there

A: The zoo is so full today

B: Yeah I wonder why

A: Holiday I guess. Let's go, don't forget the camera

B: Sure.

A: Is that dog yours?

B: Which one, the brown one?

A: Yes, the small one?

B: Yes, it's mine. Isn't it cute?

A: Very cute. What type of dog is it?

B: Yorkshire Silky Terrier

A: I see. It's a small as a cihuahua, I reckon

B: Pretty much

A: How long have you had it for?

B: About a year now

A: Very nice. I've always wanted to have a dog

B: Why don't you get one then?

A: I wouldn't have time to look after it. You know how busy I am at work

B: True. Well you can always come over to play with my dog

A: Yes that's probably the best option.

A: I feel like swimming. Should we go for a swim?

B: Can you swim?

A: Yes I can, can you?

B: I've been swimming since elementary school

A: Is that so? You must be good, then

B: Well, it's one of my hobbies

A: Allright then, what are you waiting for, let's go swimming

B: Which swimming pool are we going to?

A: The nearest one from here

B: All right, let me get my gear first.

A: Welcome to Luvi Hair Beauty

B: Hi there. I want to have a haircut. How much doest it cost?

A: It costs fifty thousand Rupiahs, that includes wash and blow dry

B: All right. Can I get it now?

A: Sure, please follow me

B: Thanks

A: Please lay down here. I'm going to wash your hair. Do you want to use hair conditioner?

B: Yes, please

After washing the hair...

A: Hi there. What sort of haircut do you want?

B: I don't know. Do you have any ideas on what hairstyle matches my face shape?

A: Your have an oval face shape. So any kind of hairstyle would suit you. Would you dare to go very short?

B: How short?

A: Just above the shoulder?

B: Ok, I don't mind

A: All right. Just relax. Here are some magazines for you to read.

B: Thank you

fifteen minutes later...

A: Done, Miss. How do you like it?

B: I look younger. I like it very much. Thank you. Where do I pay?

A: My pleasure. Just go straight to the cashier near the exit door

B: Ok, thanks.

A: I'd like to buy an English dictionary

B: This way please

A: Here it is, Sir. This one here is the best seller out of all

B: Thank you. What's the price?

A: It's seventy thousand Rupiahs

B: That's quite expensive

A: Well, we have fifteen percent discount for customers holding our bookstore's member card. Do you have one, Sir?

B: No, I don't. How do I get one?

A: You have to make a purchase of more than two hundred thousand Rupiahs to automatically become our member. You'll receive your member card within a week since the purchase

B: All right. Maybe next time.

A: What's wrong Ken? What's bothering you?

B: Nothing. I'm just confused at the moment

A: What is it?

B: Well my current company is offering me a managerial position at their new branch in Singapore

A: That's really nice. What's confusing you?

B: It's overseas

A: Singapore is not that far. It's just two hours flight

B: I guess so

A: How much is the salary they offer you?

B: Much more than my current salary for sure, they also provide accommodation there for me

A: I really don't get why you didn't accept the offer instantly?

B: Well actually, I'm afraid that I won't like it there

A: Well you never know if you don't try. If I were you, I would take the offer. You're still young anyway

B: Well it's a two-year contract. So I cannot just leave if I don't like it there

A: Well I guess you need to discuss it with your parents. Ask them what they think about all this, but my advice is don't be afraid of new challenges or experiences

B: Allright, thanks for your input.

A: Let's go out this evening

B: Fine. Where should we go?

A: It's up to you

B: What if we go to the cinema?

A: I agree. What movie do you want to see?

B: I heard that Batman Returns is already playing?

A: Really? Let's watch that. Which cinema should we go to?

B: How about Celaya? We could have dinner first then watch a movie

A: Sounds good

B: Allright, we'll leave at five.

A: Hi, Lana. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to your birthday last week. My parents had their wedding anniversary on the same day.

B: That's allright. I understand.

A: How was the party anyways?

B: It was great. There were a lot of people who came.

A: That's good. By the way, I have a little present for you.

B: Really? You shouldn't have!

A: Here you go. I hope you like it.

B: Thank you so much. You are so thoughtful.

A: You're welcome.

B: Oh wow, I really like this.

A: I'm glad you like it.

B: I like it so much. Thank you.

A: Can you repair this radio?

B: What's wrong with it?

A: There is no sound.

B: Let me see.

A: Can it be repaired right now?

B: Yes, Sir. But I'm afraid it cannot be finished today.

A: Is that so? When will it be finished, then?

B: Probably next Monday.

A: You mean two more days from now?

B: Yes, Sir.

A: All right, that's fine. See you next Monday.

A: Congratulations on your graduation.

B: Thank you so much.

A: How long did you finish your degree for?

B: I finished it in three years.

A: Your parents must be very proud.

B: Yes they are.

A: What major did you do?

B: I did Media Communications.

A: Sounds like fun. So, what's your plan after this?

B: I am going to look for a job, maybe at some advertising agencies.

A: Well, good luck hunting.

B: Thanks.
